MSDC have rejected the owners planning application in relation to the barn next to The Royal Oak.  In doing so, have recognised the Crawley Down Neighbourhood Plan as having some weight.  The application was for ‘Proposed construction of three bed dwelling with associated car parking, following demolition of existing single storey building.  Alteration to number and layout of car parking spaces serving The Royal Oak public house.

MSDC have issued an Article 4 direction.  This means that the current owner must obtain planning permission before changing The Royal Oak to a convenience store, office or restaurant.


“As a matter of courtesy” PLC Architects, as agents for the owner, advise MSDC of their clients intention to convert the Royal Oak to a convenience store and start trading as of 26th February.
